I wrote this earlier in my journey under my full name, Jeffery K. Pace. It came from a conviction that debt can quietly narrow a person’s choices. My thinking has grown since then, but the concern underneath it still matters to me: what gives a person room to live deliberately?

Not a straight line.

Restaurants taught me to pay attention.

Hospitality is practical care. It asks you to notice what people need, work with a team under pressure, and keep your word when the room is busy.

WORK / OWNERSHIP

Sales taught me the difference between earning and keeping.

I learned to communicate, listen, and create value across several industries. I also learned to ask what remains after the next sale is made.

PLACE / POSSIBILITY

Property work widened my sense of home.

Time around property and land made me think about the places we live, the obligations they bring, and the kind of life a home can support.

A song can travel farther than you expect.

One early year of releasing music reached listeners in 48 countries. The number belongs to 2019. What stayed with me was that something made in one place could find people I would never have met.
